Paul Mansley (Chair)
I am Paul Mansley, Chair of Memory Lane Cafe, and part of the team that manage and develop our group. I am also Safeguarding Lead in charge of safeguarding everyone involved in the group (whether volunteers or cafe members). We have four formal meetings a year to review finances and strategic issues plus other meetings as necessary to address specific matters. Having started in 2016 as a voluntary community group, in June 2018 we achieved Charity Commission registration as an incorporated charity. We intend that the structure of the group will remain as now (managed through our small committee consisting of chair, secretary, treasurer plus other specialist members). The committee members are as follows:-
Chris Harvey (Secretary)
I spent my working career as a manager in the railway industry. Nowadays I maintain the organisation and paperwork of our group, ensure that our policies and procedures are relevant and up-to-date, and I help out at cafes.
Catherine Lloyd (Treasurer)
June Harvey (Cafe Co-ordinator & Volunteer Manager)
Now retired, I spent my working life as a psychiatric nurse in Yorkshire, Leicester and London. Nowadays I plan and run our cafes together with our team of enthusiastic volunteers.
Shabir Hussain (Media Manager)
I lead on publicity and use of social media for the group.
Mike Payne (Funding & Fixing)
I am a Councillor for Sowerby Bridge and very involved in most community activities having lived here for over 40 years. Over 30 years of that as an international HR Director and management consultant as MD of Benson Payne Ltd. Previously was with Price Waterhouse Coopers and prior to that, was Staff Controller at The Halifax. An energetic charity worker and philanthropist holding many positions as Chairman and Trustee. Father of 2 boys and Granddad to 3 lovely Grandchildren.
We’re All Volunteers
Everyone at Memory Lane Cafe is a volunteer. We each have particular skills and enthusiasms, are of all ages and backgrounds and we are all really enthusiastic about what we do. Our cafes, social get-togethers, trips out, information and fundraising events all depend on the efforts of our dedicated team who play games, get creative with crafting, serve refreshments, wash up, assist with transport and simply (but, oh so importantly) just chat.
